Before I started working with Matt, I was running my own ads for about a year. I was getting a decent amount of calls, but I always had the feeling that I wasn’t really getting the best bang for my buck for the money I was spending. On top of that, I wasn’t always getting the exact type of calls I wanted. Sometimes people were asking for services that were similar to mine but that I don’t actually offer, and other times the calls were coming from locations I didn’t want to serve. I played around with the ads a lot myself, but I never really figured out how to solve those problems.

I originally reached out to Matt just to do a free audit and tell me what he thought. He pointed out pretty quickly that there was a lot of room for improvement. Once I hired Matt and he made changes, I could see the results almost immediately. Within days, I was getting a lot more calls while spending less money. For context, last year my business did about $750,000 in revenue. This year, we did just shy of $1.3 million, and I attribute a large part of that growth to the work Matt has done. One of the most valuable things Matt gave me was a really in-depth look into my business and what’s actually driving results. He also gave me what feels like an almost unlimited ability to scale.

For me, being a tree service, there’s obviously a ceiling in the dead of winter — you can’t just say, “I’ve got more money to spend, let’s magically create more customers.” But for the rest of the year, whenever I want to scale, all I have to do is tell Matt, “Hey, I can take on more work,” and within days it shows up on my doorstep. That kind of control over growth is honestly mind-blowing.

One of the things I found most impressive was when Matt logged me into the Google Ads console and showed me how we stacked up against other top service providers in town. There are a couple of companies that are much more established than I am — one probably has around 30% of the market share, another maybe 10%. Even so, Matt showed me that I was appearing as the top-of-page result for about 76% of searches. What Matt is really exceptional at is giving business owners the opportunity to be the first call someone makes, and if you do your job right as a salesperson, that person might only make one other call or even no other calls at all. You have to think, when you’re the second result on a search page you’re typically only ever going to get phone calls from someone who plans to call multiple people. If you’re the first result on the page, you have the opportunity to have access to customers that no one else ever will.

I’ll be honest — when I first spoke with Matt, as a small business owner, I was a little hesitant to make the investment. But looking back now, I honestly kick myself for not doing it sooner. When I think about how much money I left on the table in the years before working with Matt, compared to the financial success I’ve had since, it’s been genuinely life-changing in terms of what I’m able to do and what I’m able to pursue.
